Overview:
Every year, UNAIDS collaborates with countries in developing their epidemiological estimates and reporting on their progress against the targets set by the UN General Assembly through the Political Declaration on HIV, the most recent of them was in 2021 for the period of 2021-2026. Once the estimates and reports are finalized and approved by countries, UNAIDS disseminates them through different online and print platforms. Data Book is one of these platforms that summarizes and visualizes data on a select set of key indicators for ease of access by stakeholders at national and international levels. As an integral part of UNAIDS AIDSinfo, these data and more can be accessed through different parts of this platform. UNAIDS published the Data Book as a PDF document in previous years.
Navigation tips and quick start guide:
The Data Book has been developed on Microsoft Power BI platform; selection of the country is through the dropdown menu at the top centre of the page and navigation through pages for each country is through the navigation icon at the top right corner of the page. Users can get the PDF version of the data visualization for the selected country through the "download pdf" button between the country selection and the navigation icon. We do not recommend using the built-in Power BI navigation bar, but you may use the zoom tool on that bar.
Background:
Every year, UNAIDS collaborates with countries to use their best available epidemiological and HIV response data to develop a model of their HIV epidemic. UNAIDS shares these data through AIDSinfo and other platforms. In response to changes in HIV and global health funding landscapes in 2025, and in preparation for transitioning from donor dependence towards a sustainable nationally owned HIV response, UNAIDS and Avenir Health have developed future projections of new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths based on different scenarios. This page provides a visualization of those scenarios to help countries and partners make evidence-informed decisions about their HIV investments.
Navigation tips:
Developed on a Power BI platform, users can select one country through the dropdown menu, select the relevant scenarios and review the results of the potential impact. The visualization is designed for use on monitor displays and may not be ideal on mobile or smaller devices.
